A crisis is an opportunity for positive change. U1 University is rising to become a small but strong, world-class institution that will inspire the world!
Dear beloved members of the U1 University family,
U1 University now stands at a turning point, facing the challenges of a declining school-age population, intensifying competition for college admissions, and a rapidly changing educational environment.
Nevertheless, I am firmly convinced that even amid these difficulties, our university will create new opportunities and possibilities. U1 University is a young and dynamic institution that embraces challenge.
Throughout our relatively short history of just over 30 years, we have never stopped striving to overcome the crises that have swept through the higher education community. The valuable experiences we have gained, through both success and failure, have become the foundation upon which U1 University has grown.
Based on this experience and wisdom, if all members of our university come together with one heart, I am confident that U1 University will rise as a remarkable and prestigious small but strong university that captures the attention of the world.
Through a new vision and proactive innovation, we must overcome the crisis faced by regional universities and establish ourselves as a leading institution recognized both domestically and internationally.
We will develop U1 University into a university needed by the region, a university that grows together with the community, and a global university specialized in Hallyu (Korean Wave) culture. We will help our students fully realize their potential and grow into “true talents” with strong identity and capability. We will also build a university where every faculty and staff member feels pride and fulfillment in their work.
To achieve these goals, I will focus on five key innovation initiatives:
1. Strengthen collaboration with local communities to become a central platform for mutual growth.
2. Innovate academic programs to enhance our competitiveness and educational quality.
3. Expand financial sustainability through new business ventures and diverse industry-academia partnerships.
4. Build a culture of trust rooted in fairness, transparency, and mutual respect.
5. Promote Hallyu culture to advance as a truly global university.
I will take the lead in building a university that students choose on their own, where students are cherished, professors are respected, faculty and staff form a strong and supportive community, and all members find happiness and pride in belonging to U1 University.
